We were pleased to see Plasti Dip featured again on the popular BBC program, The Repair Shop, on April 23rd. For those who missed it, here’s what happened:
Expert weaver Sarah was tasked with repairing two chairs made from plastic-covered cane that were significantly worn. In search of a suitable solution to coat the new cane used for the repair, Dominic recommended Plasti Dip. Upon trying it, Sarah was thrilled with the results.
The next challenge was how to effectively coat the long canes with Plasti Dip. Dominic proposed an ingenious solution: the super-dipper. By utilizing plastic tubes attached to a plank of wood, Sarah could fill the tubes with Plasti Dip and fully submerge the canes in one dip before hanging them to dry.
Once the canes dried, Sarah was able to re-weave the damaged chairs with plastic-coated canes that perfectly matched the original materials.
The outcome was exceptional, and we are overjoyed that Plasti Dip played a role in restoring these unique chairs, along with the cherished memories of Mamta’s childhood in Tanzania with her sister and parents. The before and after results can be viewed here:
