Do you struggle to find a hard-wearing paint for your horse equipment?

We recently received some great feedback from customer Charlotte Marston who had used Hard Coat Finish to paint her horse jumps. Charlotte was new to Plastidip.co.uk and our range of Performix products and discovered us whilst browsing our shop on eBay. She’d previously used another big brand paint (we won’t embarrass them by naming them!) and not had much success as she explains…

“I have not painted jump poles before and I had been meaning to paint my wooden jump poles for a little while now. It has been recommended that metal paint be used to protect the wood from the elements. I had tried one jump pole with another brand and it was awful! The paint itself was awful to apply, the pole required 3+ coats and the drying time between each coat was soul destroying. Within 3 days of use, it has already chipped, cracked and flaked, so I wasn’t impressed and the cost implications of continuing with that paint just didn’t work for me.”

Before purchasing Charlotte read the reviews on eBay and on our site (see our feedback page) and decide to give HCF a try…
“I wasn’t disappointed. HCF covers well with only one coat (apart from the orange) and dried very quickly in the warm weather, which means that I can paint a few poles at once and utilise them the same day. With the wet weather over the past few days, the rain sits on the surface of the pole I painted with the other brand, where it just runs off the HCF painted poles, which I am sure will help prolong their life. I have already decided to sand and repaint the other poles and use HCF, so they all have the same lovely finish.”

“I am no professional, just a middle-aged woman who wants to inject colour and fun into my riding. I have many more jump poles, wings and fillers to make and paint but HCF will always be my go-to brand now, budget allowing. This is one positive from the lockdown, as I would have gone out to purchase another inferior paint and continued to be oblivious to the options available.”
