As promised, we sent out comparison samples of Fluorescent Plasti Dip with and without our Pro FX pigments (Candy Pearl Spectral Pigments) for fade testing.

– Sample # 1 was Plasti Dip Fluorescent Orange.

– Sample # 2 was Plasti Dip Fluorescent Orange mixed with our Pro FX Crimson Red pigment at the recommended ratio of 5 grams per gallon.

Both samples were placed on an instrument called a Fade-Ometer. The Fade-Ometer uses a high intensity UV light to imitate exposure to natural sunlight. The beauty of a Fade-Ometer is that each hour on this machine represents about 1/2 a week of exposure to sunlight.

Each section of the sample is exposed for a specific amount of time to simulate the exposure (and fading) that would occur in the real world. A 75 hour exposure is equal to about 4 months in the real world.

And the results are:

2 things that amaze us about this test;

– First, how much standard Plasti Dip Fluorescents fade 

– Second, how well the combination of Fluorescents and our Pro FX pigments hold up.

Therefore, by mixing in just a small amount of Pro FX pigments (Candy Pearl Spectral Pigments) with Fluorescent Plasti Dip there is little to no colour fade! This shows how the built-in UV stability in our Pro FX pigments will keep the base pigment from fading.

On example C, we coated the Fluorescent Base with the Clear Coat/Pigment Mix.
