This amazingly detailed and accurate Predator One mask was created by Derek at Dragon Skin Studios. His job is to construct professional movie costumes and props using a variety of materials (metal, carbon, resins, latex, laminates) and including animatronics, machines and lasers. Building one-off pieces or full-production moulding for anatomical use.

Derek says “I made a clay sculpture, moulded it, then cast it in Latex, with resin teeth and mandables.”

The paint on the mask is all made from clear Plasti Dip, plus some HCF (Hard Coat Finish), using his own translucent pigments to tint, applied through an airbrush, then coated with clear Plasti Dip. Plasti Dip remains flexible once dried (so won’t flake off) and gives a rubbery feel which is ideal for such projects.

The total process took about 3 weeks to produce this intricate, realistic and rather terrifying mask and what a result!
