No matter how much you spend on a pair of wellies, sooner or later they’ll start to leak. The combination of freezing conditions, sunlight and constant wear and tear means these boots get a hard run and most of them end up in landfill once they cease to be watertight, but stop!

You can reseal wellington boots and make them waterproof again and it only takes a few minutes. Best of all you can use our ever-versatile hero product Plasti Dip which every house should have a tin of!

Plasti Dip is a flexible durable waterproof coating that can be applied with a brush or in an aerosol. It comes in a range of colours or as a transparent coating. It fills small cracks and keeps them watertight because unlike paint it isn’t rigid and can flex with wear.

How to fix leaks in wellington boots

  • Identify where your leak is. If you can’t, don’t worry, you can coat the entire boot if needed!
  • Clean your boots, any dirt left on them will be sealed in for good otherwise
  • Apply Plasti Dip using a brush or aerosol
  • Leave to cure for 24 hours
  • Do a quick test to ensure they are waterproof. If the crack is particularly large you may need a second coat
  • Use your wellies once more!
